Manitoba Health has announced the following recommended approach to dose two for clients who received AstraZeneca/Covishield vaccine for dose one:

For those patients who had a first dose of AstraZeneca(AZ) COVID-19 vaccine, Manitoba is recommending they obtain a Moderna or Pfizer mRNA vaccine for their second dose with a recommendation of 8 – 12 weeks, ideally before 16 weeks, with an absolute minimum interval of 28 days since the first dose of Astra Zeneca.

We have been notified that Manitoba Health will have mRNA vaccines available to clinics in the days and weeks ahead but we do not have confirmation of dates and amounts of vaccines that will be allotted to Western Medical Clinic.

Staff will be contacting all patients who received their first dose of Astra Zeneca at Western Medical Clinic in the coming weeks once we have received confirmation from Manitoba Health regarding supply of the mRNA vaccine.

Patients can choose to book an appointment for the Pfizer vaccine at the local super site if they so choose, this can be done online or by calling 1-844-626-8222.
