Dr. Maier completed her Undergraduate Medical Training and Family Medicine Residency in Winnipeg and began her Family Practice at the Western Medical Clinic in 1986. She provides patient care at the clinic, Brandon Regional Health Centre and Dinsdale Personal Care Home. She is a strong advocate for comprehensive Family Medicine care.
In addition to her practice, she has held a number of administrative positions over the years including Medical Director of Dinsdale Personal Care Home as well as Chair of the Continuing Medical Education Committee, BRHC and Chief of the Department of Family Medicine, BRHC.
Dr. Maier has provided Family Medicine education to medical students for many years as a preceptor for the University of Manitoba. In 2010, she was instrumental in establishing a University of Manitoba Family Medicine Residency training stream in Brandon where medical residents completee 2 years of postgraduate training in Brandon following medical school. She is the Site Lead for this as well as the Assistant Dean for the Brandon Satellite Campus, University of Manitoba.
Dr. Maier has received numerous awards during her career including the 2007 Undergraduate Teaching Award, Department of Family Medicine, University of MB, the 2010 Gary Beazley Family Medicine Educator Award, the 2010 CFPC Award of Excellence for Manitoba and the 2011 CFPC Family Physician of the Year Award (Manitoba).
She is supported in her life by her two children, Catherine and Cameron.
